I just put my winter tires and rims on - they are aftermarket and don't have TPMS . As expected the low tire pressure light came on along with the red triangle warning light, which I wasn't expecting. Is there any way to get the red light to go out or am I stuck with it till I put my summers back on?. I checked and understand It can be reset but will it just come back on or even turn off at all ?
thanks
our cars dont have tpms in our tires.it sences the difference when the tires are spinning and if it sences a difference it will set the light on.you may have a wheel that has a problem.after market wheels should not effect the light.
My '04 doesn't have them, and Jim is right about how it works - at least, as far as 2004 models, anyway ..... I can only speak for 2004, which I 'm familiar with.
Okay- my mistake -I have an 04 and thought we had them. Could the light just come on because I changed the tires and rims? I thinking I'll reset the light and see what happens. Just put them on today and the lights came on as I was driving home.

Reason: more info
just reset using the button and both lights went out. If it comes back on I'll get it checked out. Thanks for you imput and knowledge guys.
No - If light comes back on, you have to INITIALIZE not RESET. There is a difference. (Procedure is on this board - just search for "initialize" and/or "tpms".)
Did it - thanks- now that I have initialized I understand that I have to drive it for some distance- should I go for a drive now or can it wait till tomorrow morning??

I think it can wait til the morning ........ you've done enough for today .
The ls430 did not have direct pressure monitors for sure, as to why it sometimes comes on and some times does not, is an interesting story. I switch from regular to snow and even from 17 to 16 and my monitor has never come on, but I know the system is working because I've has slow leaks from nails in tire and the system does trigger. the only thing we know is that if you do switch to a different set of tires and the system does come on, then just initialize and it usually works.
of course before initializing, make sure all wheels are at correct pressure, because initializing means you're retelling the computer that what condition current exists will be baseline as normal, so if one tire is low, then it's going to continue running low with no indication.
