Default 05 LS430: items falling in between seat and center console

Hi everyone,

Previous owner must not have cared for his car as I do, because I found gum (unchewed), coins, and other items under the seats. My question is is there an easy to get stuff out that has fallen in between the seat and center console? I tried reaching my hand from the side and underneath with no luck. I know I have dropped a piece of wrapped gum down there, but haven't been able to get it out.

Thanks.

try raising the chair all the way and moving the chair all the way forward/backwards. Then go at it with a shop vac

Its funny cause 90% of the time I drop something near seat it always fall in between seat/console. I can get my hand in there and get it. When I can't I move chair all the way forward then all the way back like tcr101 stated.

the seats are very easy to take out, just unbolt and pull them up

are you missing the little strip cover that goes between the seat and console? Mine has this cloth strip that goes the length of the seat and I've dropped things that fall right onto that protector and nothing drops down.

I noticed that there is a gap between the back of the protective strip and the seatbelt latch where stuff can slip through.

Coins that fall out of your right pocket are susceptible to rolling out and falling down the gap at the end of the protective strip. The biggest problem I ever had was when my smart key fell out of the pocket (or somehow was dropped) at the dealership during service. As I drove away I realized that I didn't have my key. I couldn't find it but the car would start. It was found under the seat at the rear where the back seat flap comes up under the rear of the seat and is attached to a rod. Now that was scary.

I dropped a piece of gum that found a tiny gap between the strip and the seatbelt latch. I can't find that thing to save my life and I have resigned myself to the fact that 10 years or so down the road someone's going to think I don't take very good care of my car...lol.

I love that simple little feature, but Murphy prevailed today.

No protective strip on my 2GS or GX. It'd be a welcome addition in both.

It's a giant pain snaking my big fat hand down there to grab my phone, quarters, etc. Especially when driving.

And I'm so impatient that it pains me to wait the 20s to motor the seat all the way forward and up to get the stuff I couldn't reach. Poor me! Ha ha.

Same thing my phone falls down there but worst is when the smart key falls down under the seat rails. Drove around for 3-4 days until one of our petite females at our company fished em out at a seminar. Lucky I live in a placw where I don't need to lock my house or car.
