Engine check means the car's computer is getting error codes from one or more of the car's systems - fuel, electrical, etc. The codes are combinations of letters and numbers that have to be looked up in a table or reference chart . The only way to get more specific info on what error codes are being created in your car is to take the car into a shop that has a code scanner and let them read the codes. Almost every shop has a scanner including of course the Lexus dealer. The codes are used by a mechanic to diagnose and point to exactly what the problem is or what part needs to be repaired or replaced.
