Default Check Engine Light '02

2002 LS430 check engine light came on last night, is there a way to find out the cause, I am trying to avoid going to the Stealer. The car is running super smooth as always. Could it be brake pad needed to be replaced?

You need to find out the OBDII code, which you can do by going to an AutoZone and they will read the code for you for free.

In the RX300 group, I regularly go over peoples codes, the problem and the potential solutions.

One trick I learned is pulling out the EFI fuse in the fusebox (with the car off) and then putting it back in to reset the light. If it comes back on, then something is messed up. Otherwise, it could have been a momentary sensor reading.

Insure the fuel fill cap is snug to tight. Loose will trigger an EVAP pressure error.

Stop by a local Autozone store and ask them to be so kind as to readout your On Board Diagnostic code (OBD-II). Read out, Carefully record and clear any errors. Expect a PXXX format

The Check Engine Lamp (CEL) should reset.

Please get back with us with the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the responses. I will head to Autozone and try to get the code for OBD-II.

Regards

For an update, the engine check light went off by itself and everything seems to be ok. If it comes back again then I will take it to the dealer for check and repair but so far so good.

Thanks everbody for help.

Regards,
