This was an interesting find! Someone from ClubLexus should test drive it and tell the rest of us how it is.

I am supprised that no VIN is revealed on the listing of the car. How to tell that it is not a scam (although it is very unlikely), assuming that the Seller's name is not the same as the name on the Title.

Yep, could be a scam. But, someone would have to call on it and try to go see it.

Can anyone comment on how not to get screwed when buying an estate car? I mean how you know the person is the one who should get your money for the car.

That is a good question. Our state recommends that both the buyer and seller complete the private party vehicle transaction at a local Secretary of State office (our DMV) to ensure a clean and complete transfer of title.

I think that's the safest way to do it. Barring that optiion you have to try to assure yourself that the person signing the title has full legal authority to do so and since the owner is dead that can be difficult, unless the seller (executor, heir, etc) has taken the time to get a new title. Could be very tricky.

I've done this type of thing. As caddyowner & jabberwock suggest, you go the Secretary of State / DMV with the seller, the title, death certificate, and power-of-attorney ( or trust document ).

I bought my 8,500 mile 2006 LS430 last November (Modern Lux = Nav/bluetooth + other goodies, like Mark Levison and sonar parking. It also had the 18" wheel package and Smart Key) I paid 29,500.

The only thing I don't like about the subject car are tinted windows, but seems like another rare find...

I actually contacted the seller and the car has a little damage history, so I passed.

I opted for the 05 UL/PCS ride in Chicago and just bought it for $24K with 64K miles. All inspections passed, new MVX4's and brakes, and the dealer replaced the radar cruise sensor ($1,000....yikes). Picking it up tomorrow.

For me, at the end of the day, toys won out over miles. If it weren't an LS, I'm not sure it would have shaken out that way.

Thank you kindly Sir. She's Mercury Metallic Silver with Black interior, just like my current 00 LS400 Platinum. I really liked the Flint Mica when I got to see it up close, but all the consumables were new on the silver one so I grabbed it.

This is a whole heap of car for the money and I can't wait to tattoo her with my plate. I'll post pictures this weekend.

Sounds like a sweet deal! Congrats on the new ride. Great to see another LS430 dominating MI's miserable roads

That's a smoking deal. What's the dealer's original asking price for the car?
