Default LS430 performance

Would appreciate experienced opinions on increasing the performance of the LS430. Is the LS 430 a good candidate for higher performance? If so what are basic and most efficient mods for enhancing acceleration and braking performance?

Welcome! I gauge a cars performance on three metrics: power, braking, and handling. I have no issue with the LS430s sub-six second 0-60 time and brakes, but handling is a weakness. In addressing that weakness, I tried to keep in mind that attempts to improve handling may seriously degrade ride comfort and lower resale value, as passengers and buyers of these cars usually value comfort above performance. So far I've only upgraded the rear sway bar. If I take a next step, it may be stiffer bushings all around. Shocks and springs would be next, but with a lot of consideration to ride quality.

Good luck in your performance quest.

there aren't that many mods for these cars regardless of efficiency.

PPE makes headers. (the prototypes were made on my LS)
you can put an air intake on it. i think fujitsu and injen make one.
a custom exhaust will help.

you can do a big brake kit to upgrade the brakes.

thats all i can think of this early saturday morning.

Very well said! Upgrading the suspension to some coils will make a dramatic difference. I rode in a CL member's 430 with Tanabe coils (Milan) and it was much flatter through the corners than my stock setup without reducing ride quality by much.

Not too much improvement as for straight line performance (nor do you really need any for daily driving).

Some nice high performance tires will also make the car feel more agile.

Greddy & Toms superchargers, Twin turbo setups (over 1000 RWHP), exhausts as mentioned, countless suspension mods, Big brake upgrades... take your pic!

Size of your wallet = amount of upgrades.

Re Vid above, the torque figures seems very low...
