Default Wheel advice

So this is my new Lexus. It is an 05 ML. I have Megan coilovers to install, tints are scheduled, window deflectors in shipped, and I have a badgeless grill. I am just wanting some wheel advice. I am thinks 5 spoke or mesh wheels and 20". I am hoping less than 3k for wheels and tires. Closer to 2.5k would be more ideal. Any help would be awesome.

You should be able to sell those 18" chrome wheels to another member (carguy..) Heck, I may even be interested to replace my scraped wheels. That will help defray the cost of new wheels / tires.

Don't forget to get some cheap painted 17" winter wheels and tires.

I would definitely be interested for a swap. If you do get 20s, you'll want some OEM 17s for the wintertime. I'm looking for a set of OEM 18s.... Plus you're in IL so you're not too far away from me.

BTW, I think you have a CL, not an ML. The burnt wood, plus headlight washers and extended leather say CL (which means you got radar cruise, door closers as bonuses).

I think you are correct about the CL, I have all the stuff you are describing. I have the auto door close and laser guided cruise. I could not remember if it was ML or CL. I have the mark levinson sound system. Love this car! So I can do a 20x10 on the rears and 20x9 on the fronts?

Good catch, carguy. I didn't notice he mentioned it was a ML cause I saw the wheels and thought of you. It is a CL and not a UL (from the pics) because it lacks the extra switches on the center console.

I've heard of people going those sizes. However, if you want a direct fit (ie no hub rings or fender work), you'll want to consider a wheel with bolt pattern 114.5 mm and an offset in the neighborhood of +40-45 (basically same dimensions as stock). What rims were you thinking of?

When I first saw the pics, I totally thought it was your car and was overjoyed to hear you were replacing your 18s...ah the disappointment that comes after false hope lol

first please edit your post and put the pics in row this way the thread doesnt seem to wide As for the wheels 20x9 with 30-35 offset and 20x10 30-up offset will fit good without any fenders modification.

Using the offset you stated above as a preference, what would be a good offset for wheels .5" wider? Similar?

JBLover, congratz on the new ride. It looks good and it looks like you have good things planned for your ride! I don't see you having any problems finding a nice set of wheels in your price range. Until I decided to go with custom paint on my WORK wheels, I was looking at rims and tires for under $3000!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Would WORK wheels be in that price range with tires?

take off about 6mm of offset for every .5" since .5" is 12.7mm...

It really depend if your willing to do a roll or shave on your fenders. I personally wouldnt go 20x9.5 up front if your not going to do any fender roll or shave because it will rub. But for the rear 20x10.5 +40-up is good

Thank you, you probably saved me some big buck$. I was looking at rims at size of 20x9.5, and wasn't planning to do any fender work. I have my eyes on a set of Work Varianza D3S from a local member
