Guys,

It seems its really hard to find wheels that fit our cars for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the BBK up front. I was thinking we should really have a sticky for wheels specific for the LS430. I would suggest we ask for the following when folks post to help the whole 430 community

1. Brand of wheels
2. Size, height by width
3. Offset
4. Pics
5. Did they fit out of the box or were spacers needed? If spacers, which did you use?
6. Any rubbing issues?
7. Did you need to roll your fenders
8. Any special notes?
9. Wheel weight if available
10. What tires did you end up with and what sizes?

I think this would go a long way to helping everyone make informed wheel purchase decisions. What say ye all?

Axis Option (light gun metal finish w/ polished lips)
20x8.5/9.5 +20 F/R
No spacers required
Lowered on Tanabe NF210 springs w/ stock shocks
Slight rubbing over big dips (Going to roll the front and shave the rear fenders soon)
225/35 & 245/35 General UHP tires
Fitment is flush (in my opinion)

Seeing that I'm also new to the community, I've been trying to determine some of these questions as well. It'd be appreciated if the guys running lower offsets can chime in to these questions...

 

My old rims: vossen 084

f20x9 et35 r20x10.5 et38 plus ichiba 15mm,

factory air with asc controller and lowering blocks,

only rear fender shaved,

tires are falken 452 f245/35 r275/30,

weight f:rim/tire 64lbs r: rim/tire 67lbs,

I tried on a 10mm spacer up front but had lots of rubbing with the 245.

Well much to my chagrin, the TSW Vortex did not fit. TSW guaranteed fitment, they were wrong, El Toro as I was sure would be, was right. Back go another set of rims Im really frustrated at this point. Im going to look into MRRs, any recommendation for the best price/vendor would be much appreciated.

 

If you want wheels to fit, then you should order a custom set instead of an off the shelf wheel made to fit as many cars as possible. Specify your pad height, offset, width, diameter, finish, etc. BBK needs high pad for clearance.

 

Not going to spend that kind of money on wheels, it doesnt add up for me.

Im going to be getting 20 inch MRR HR2 and HR3. Anyone have them on their car now? Would love to see some pics and hear your thoughts on them.

 

Yesterday I put some KMC Rockstars on my wife's car for her birthday. I know, I know, not everyone's style for this kind of car, but I think it came out looking pretty sweet. I was hesitant at first, but once they were on the car, I am happy about the decision. I DID NOT want to run spacer in the front, and the wheels I originally has to put on it would have needed a 3/4" spacer and the wheel was a 8.5 with a +38, so I would have needed to narrow the suspension close to 2" to get the wheels were I wanted. In the pics with chrome wheel (Alba Bank 8.5 w/+42) they bolted on without spacers. As a matter of fact, had 5/8" between spokes and caliper. I didn't like the look of the all chrome wheel on car and was having issues with a cracked wheel, so decided to buy brand new instead of used.
I lowered the car 2.5 inches utilizing factory springs and struts and not with some crazy offset brackets to move strut mount, ball joint spacers, etc. so I needed a wheel that would tuck in front and not tear fender off in turns since the car still has full suspension travel like stock.
The wheels of choice ended up being 20x8 KMC Rockstars with a +42 offset. They bolted right up with about 1/4" to spare between caliper. I didn't do staggered because I want to get rid of all the camber in the back with adjustable lowers. I'm running 235's at all 4 corners, wanted to at least run 245's, but would have looked weird with width of rims and more chance of rubbing front fenders.

 

The rear wheels look weird because of the camber. That will be addressed next weekend.

OH YEAH, here's another set of wheels I tried off my buddy's GS300 with hydraulics that I installed a few years back. 20x8.5 and 20x10 +38 offset KMC Novas with 245-35 front and rear. pretty much bolted up ( a piece of paper as a spacer would have worked ) without adapters. rubbed a little on plastic liner pulling in my driveway, but if you look at my driveway, a lot of things either rub or scrape. The last pics of the GS are the wheels I originally had that I wanted to use but would have needed 3/4" spacer.

 

 

For those of you who are interested in 22's and NOT lowering your car, I think the wheels on my Town Car in the pic would have bolted up. 22x8.5 with +35 offset. Never had a chance to try them on before I sold it a month ago.
