New trunk lift supports---what a difference
Just got a pr of Strong Arm trunk struts for my LS430 2006 and getting ready to install. These struts look really robust and they are Made in U.S.A. so that's a plus for me. Advance Auto sells them. I was looking at the Mighty Lift struts from Auto Zone but I didn't like the looks of them and I think they are Chinese made. I had my Toyota dealer install the Advanced Auto Parts SA hood struts on my trusty LS400 1995 for $44 to keep the wifey happy. She had visions of that monster sized hood cracking my 3-level neck fusion and rendering her a widow with 3 cars! 1/2 unit of shop time @ $44 wasn't so bad since the struts were discounted to $44 for the pair. The SA trunk struts for the LS430 were only $48 + tax online with an AA $20 discount that's good until 11/30/11. I selected store pickup and got them the same morning. Assuming I can pry off the old struts these new ones should pop in place. Already got my baseball bat and/or broom stick in sight.
All done in less than 12 mins including reading
the directions. If you're on the fence about
replacing your trunk struts just do it and DIY and
strongly consider the Strong Arm E6415 (not the Universal) from
Advance Auto Parts. $45+tax (pair) with the 20% AAP
coupon. They appear to
be a quality product and Made in USA. (no irony
in my statement relative to owning a Japanese
car... LOL). The hood struts for my LS400
were also SA and discounted.
