Default Spoiler question ...

Hi All -

Going thru the LS430 Ultimate Picture Thread a question came to mind. A good %age of modded LS's have spoilers of varying shapes, sizes and styles. Since the LS430 is almost aerodynamically perfect straight off the factory floor, do the spoilers help or hinder these dynamics or are they pretty much cosmetic only

I highly doubt anyone drives the LS hard enough to the point where that downforce is needed.

Most spoilers are cosmetic. The only time they're actually functional are when they're huge and look ricey...

Bodykits are purely cosmetic. The kind of spoiler you'd use to add downforce would never likely find it's way onto an LS,as it'd be far too large to keep with the body shape and would spoil the car's lines.

I doubt any of the kits on the market improve the car's CD rating. Most would likely reduce it slightly due to the larger frontal area. As mentioned though, very few people drive these cars hard, and I doubt anyone would be pushing hard enough that aero would be a considered performance factor.
