It seems that lowering and larger diameter wheels tend to go together to achieve a specific look. Most folks who stick with stock 17 or 18 inch wheels also don't lower their cars. Based on the feedback folks get here, moving to 20 in wheels without lowering usually gets calls that it doesn't look complete.

Thats odd, I see lots of pictures here.
I also think Lexus got it perfect with 18" wheels.

I am pretty sure no Lexus ever came with anything larger than 18s

the new 460's come with 19's as an option

caddyowner i think you are very correct in your assumption... not all but most do what you explained. 18's require a bit fat tire to achieve the same overall wheel dimensions, whereas 20's require a much thinner tire to achieve the same dimensions. 18's and a slight drop looks much more conservative to me but also maintains a level of class that you can't really achieve with 20's.. 19's to me pulls off the best of all worlds to me, 19's with a 35 sidewall tire rear and prolly 40 sidewall in front gets my vote.

i am about to make the switch from 19's back to 20's next week though so what are you gonna do huh¿¿¿

The only 18" rims that's looks good on the ls to me are the factory 5 spokes. Most aftermarket 18s look small and corny for some reason to me.(Lowered on 20s ftw).

maybe i didn't say it right.. i mean aftermarket wheels... stock 18" wheels i like but i am thinking aftermarket ... like 18" work wheels on LS c a drop.....i see lot of GS's with 18s dropped but never LS.... and not on stock 18s.. am pretty sure 19s is the way to go but would like to see 18s just to confirm... I am not a fan of 'the bigger the better' when it comes to rims..

if u see pic of LS c 18" work wheels and dropped. .. post em... : >

This is a big car, so you need big rims to maintain the proportions. Even on the 3 series, there were a very small number with 18s, most would go 19+ b/c it just looked better with a drop (fills the wheel wells better). Why not just drop your car first, then decide what sort of rims suit it best?

As long as you like it, anyone else's opinion doesn't matter. If you feel that those rims suit the car best then by all means do it. 18s are a decent size, I think the stock 17s are a pretty good size. Pics of the wheel you're looking at?

i have a celsior mag with a lot of various rim sizes, offsets, and various styles all mounted on various celsiors (ls430's). there are a couple pics of 18's on our cars with big tires and dropped. most all the cars in any size wheel have body kits and various other parts changed since its a vip mag from j-pan but in my opinion the ones with 18's all look really tuff, like gangster style more than executive style. maybe its cuz they still slammed them and got a really wide 18" rim and still had all the other mods but in these cases i wouldn't mind driving them but it looked like the old bosozoku styling and pretty old school thuggish to me.

Nice reminds me of the wheels BMW used to run on E30/34/39s. Very unique choice (in a good way), gonna be hard to clean though lol

That's probably why I like them. However, I don't know about mounting them on a LS.
