Default How do I replace rear bass unit in a 2001 LS430?

I have seen posts similar to this. Do the rear seats have to be removed? It appears to me that there is direct access by removing the upper rear panel in the trunk. The panel seems to be removable but I don't want to damage it trying to remove it. Can someone tell me how to access and replace the rear window bass unit. Feel free to provide as much detail as possible! Thanks!!!
