Update: I picked up the car from Glenview, IL yesterday. It is about 5 hrs from my home in Ann Arbor, MI. Car was gorgeous! Only 2 slight flaws that I could see (scraped driver's mirror and a slight bit of damage on the edge of the driver's door bottom panel). Car was silky smooth the entire time back. I drove the 430 the entire 5 hrs with only a 5 min bathroom break in between and I was still as comfortable as can be. The car is so quiet and the suspension is tuned just right for cruising! I cannot be happier with the car. My grandparents rode back with me for the 5 hrs and were extremely comfortable at the end, even my grandmother who has a sore back. At one point, my grandmother fell asleep and I could have a whispering conversation with my grandfather (he has hearing aids too) doing 75-80 on the highway. Only odd thing that happened was the low tire pressure light came on. I pulled over, my dad checked the tire pressures and said all was well. I drove back with the warning light on and never ran into any issues. Oh yea, the xenons rock, the gauges are beautiful at night (maybe a bit bright but I'm nit picking at this point), nav screen dims nicely, and auto dimming rear mirror is too cool (really helps with my sensitive vision). One thing I really had to worry about was keeping a safe speed, as sound levels at 70 = sound levels at 85-90 lol. Well I cannot stop raving about how awesome the car is. I'm sure many are sick of my long posts by now lol. Anyway, after seeing the 430, my parents are actually considering picking up a 430 as our family car!
Congrats at getting your baby home. Since it is CPO, it should have a complete owners manual. I suggest spending today reading it, or at least scanning through it, along with the nav manual. It's best to do this while sitting in the car since I found myself constantly going out to the car to check stuff out.

Yep I'm going out there pretty soon. Still trying to get homelink to work with my garage door. Will (mewhee) has kindly pm'ed me the cool features list so I will be learning those as well. Thanks again for all your help

There's that, and I believe he mentioned that his grandparents helped him out financially in buying this car. They probably came along to make sure it was a nice car they wouldn't mind repossessing when CarGuy misses a payment by 30 minutes.
My son loaned me money for my LS430 and keeps ogling it in the garage every time he visits. If he hadn't just bought a Yukon Denali, he'd probably be bugging me to borrow the LS. Now that he's going back to college, he's looking forward to the additional income stream my monthly car payment provides for him.
Yep took a look already. Car is looks ok, but has a wheel wobble, weaker brake pedal feel, and a loud cracking from the trunk area over big bumps. Engine. trans, and suspension seems ok, but idk 20k is still a lot of $$ so I think it's still best to go for a low-mile CPO one. The same dealer that I got my 430 from actually just had an 04 with 13k miles. Got sold in less than a day though. I'll keep looking now that I have some new found knowledge from this board!
I am glad you love your 430, it is truly a spectacular car. Nevertheless I have to admit that your LS430 buying thread got me seriously reconsidering my itch for another Range Rover and I might have to make the leap as they are so tantalizingly priced and far less common (at least in my area and in my price range), which I like.
I doubt I will do it, but your thread made that little bug eating at the back of my head even louder. It also does not help that I just spent the entire weekend in Georgia helping my friend buy a Volvo! I have car buyer disease right now, but we will see how much I like my 430 when it comes back from the wheel bearing replacement.

^As along as you agree to keep popping back every now and then to entertain us I'm ok with that I don't blame you, there are just so many nice cars that it's hard to just stick with one. Range rover is a sweet ride, best looking suv IMO. Exterior is clean (especially the pre-facelift ones of the current gen) and the interior is so nice! You owned one in the past so you probably already know what to look for, making your buying process easier.

Absolutely. There's a lot of hurdles I'd have to jump to make it happen so it just depends on whether I want to devote that much time to it, AND whether its worth doing all of that to move to a significantly less reliable car. The LS is financed, resulting in all the work necessary to switch.

I am glad I am not alone in that department. LR (both the Ford and Tata leaderships) have done everything they can to stretch that BMW designed platform out as long as they possibly can... The end result however is they just keep redoing the fascia to the point its starting to look silly. The plus side is the longer they use the platform, the longer the 2003-2005 continues to be relevant and not too distinguishable for the masses.
