Default Door seal noise over rough roads

When traveling over broken pavement I can hear a sort of rubbing noise which I suspect is the drivers door moving slightly within the body frame. Is this common and would rubbing the seal with a silicone spray be a good solution?

Yes, it is a common annoyance. I tried Aerospace 303 and it helped some. Don't use silicone spray as it breaks down the rubber. I am having the dealer address it tomorrow when the car is in for 40K service. Some folks say that a window adjustment is what is needed.

I used Lexol Vinylex on a BMW with a similar problem and it worked well.

in another thread it was recommended to use the silicon spray, which i did and it worked fine and haven't had to spray it since the first time about 4 months ago.

My Lexus service shop foreman says that all of the 430s have this issue...... The good part is that it only squeaks under specific weather coditions. You better hope that your state isnt one which causes this squeak all the time. Someone find a cure already!!!

I did a writeup on curing the door creaking. Search the archives.

This week, the dealer eliminated most of the window creak for no charge by inserting some small pieces of sticky-backed felt in the upper window channel. The service manager said that the complete cure is replacing the whole window channel which is about $200 - $300.

Any idea which conditions specifically? I test drove a high mileage one and it had no squeaks or rattles whatsoever. Also, what sort of sound should I be hearing (light squeak, loud?). I assume it has to come from all the doors. Sry for only asking questions and not answering them. I am looking to buy sometime next week so I would like all that taken care of beforehand.

When driving on uneven / rough pavement with the radio off, you may hear some creaking from the area of the top of the driver's window or door.

Ok I see. Does replacing the window channel as your dealer suggested permanently solve the problem, or is it just a quick fix before it wears out and happens again?

Good question. I think there are two potential noises -from the door sill and the window.

Since everyone here seems to be too lazy to search the archives, here is the fix...no ugly pieces of felt, no replacement door channels or weatherstripping needed, and less than $15. FYI, I've had GS and ES loaner cars (some brand new) that also had the creak. The LX470 does not have the creak at all, but I have heard it in the ES350, LS, and GS300.

my squeak came back. The noise started to appear on my drive into work and started to recall that SNL skit where they were at a leather store and everytime someone moved, you heard this loud leather rubbing sound. Putting some 303, armor all, or something along those lines will fix...
