Fellow LS lovers...
in another thread the question came up about the LS locking itself. Does anyone have any info on this? I know that on a regular basis my car will lock itself but I am not sure what I do (or don't do) to make this happen.
both of my ES' did this as well.
i know that if you hit unlock and dont start the engine it will lock itself
or if you open the trunk it will lock itself
I'm pretty sure that it's if you unlock and DON'T open any doors, it will lock again in like 20 seconds. If you unlock and then open a door (not including trunk) it will not lock again. This is the safety feature, in case you unlock and somehow your kid gets in and closes the door. You don't want it locking again. Just the same if you don't open it at all, you might forget you unlocked it, so the car locks itself again.
The other post, others had mentioned about it being a possible C-best setting, I don't think the passive unlocking after you stop the car and then just close and leave, is an option.

A common cause is a medical condition known as "T.P.S." .... which stands for "tight pants syndrome". A fairly large number of males on car forums have reported locking or unlocking car doors and opening their windows and sunroofs because of T.P.S. -- sometimes when they plop down in easy chairs in their living rooms after work.
Yes, I have T.P.S. and am considering entering a 12 step program to overcome it. Or maybe I'll just buy LARGER PANTS!
