just curious as to what items if any could be easily portable. first off i wanted to pick up a set of jdm side window visors for myself, but in terms of parts that are easy to carry I was thinking maybe about buying a datasystems controller or 2 and bringing that back.
anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on buying some parts in japan that are not heavy and bringing them back stateside that may be in somewhat high demand? anyone want a datasystems controller?

my friend has the avs on his 06+ gs and they look nothing like the jdm ones for our cars,, not sure if that is like comparing apples to oranges but those were the only avs (on a lex) i have ever seen.

youzealand ss kits are actually very very heavy for their size. i thought about that since i had one a few months back but the box weighed like 12 lbs. only like 3 of those would make a bag in the upper weight category, thus having to pay extra to put it on the plane, thus having to charge more to sell them once i got them back, and do you actually want one or just recommending a part to bring back? thanks for the suggestions.
yeah i'm not sure how big the visors box is either which could be sort of cumbersome... bulbs would easily qualify and where/what is ls produce??

The exchange rate being what it is, the deals will be minimal by the time you factor in airfare and other traveling expenses. At .86:1...ouch and the exchange fees, looking at ~.83. I learned easier to buy stateside.
Check your luggage restrictions. My luggage fee for being overweight was $75 and if it is heavier...more ouch. Shipping via their postal service...a #15 box cost me $130 and I shipped 4 back home with varying weights. Learned then, it was easier to pay the luggage fees for an oversized suitcase full of goodies but only so much fits into a suitcase. Lugging it across the airport even if on wheels while carrying other stuff was a PITA. BTW...when it is filled with odd goodies, mine got tagged for visual inspection at Narita. Then your worry if it will get the attention of customs back home and then explaining the contents declaration/value to the agent if you fudge it. (I don't BTW because I'm willing to pay any associated fees.)
Places like Carson if taking orders is easier. You won't get the satisfaction of having it ready when you land and are at their time schedule for container shipments.
Have fun...I love being there, can't wait to plan our next trip.

yeah we have sent many a heavy box back and that shiz is outrageously expensive,, i have a behemoth size suitcase that i am going to bring over as an extra,, its been a while since i have flown back, over a year now and usually we go in the winter time (going to kansai area btw) so i have to use 2 suitcases to fit all the sweaters and jackets i will prolly wear or not wear since for some reason the subways are always way to hot for me even in the winter and walking down highrise blocks always seems to put out a lot of warmth from each businesses heaters and front doors so yeah.. but this time it is summer so hopefully i can have 1 suitcase with shorts and teeshirts and the other pretty much empty for stuff to buy. we are flying united this time on account of the huge price difference with ANA it being obon time and all. i am hoping that united will allow me to bring 2 bags for free since it is an international flight and all, i know they used to on international flights but all that shiz seems to have changed lately. last flight i took 2 months ago which was domestic they charged us $55+ for each having a bag, forget which airline though.
yeah i know the exchange rate is kinda not favoring the US right now and i don't really mean to profit much off of bringing stuff back, just sort of make it interesting is all as long as its not to much of a hassle. i'm going back regardless so the price of the trip is already done.
so those jdm visors wanted 56$ (my parts source in j-pan) to ship 1 week air to my place in MD and i asked about shipping in j-pan and they said like $19 which i thought would be like $5 so its really not that big of a difference. i was hoping to save $50 by carrying them back to the states, but it doesn't seem like that would really save much loot at all.
