While some are new to the community and some are leaving... i just thought i'd post a message of content for my 2005 LS430. She's as beautiful as the day i got her. I look forward to keeping her clean even when it's 100 degrees outside and I'm dripping sweat on the car as I wax away crud and contaminants. Yeah, I've got better things to do, but taking a few hours a month to pay close attention to my spectacular ride provides me with enough satisfaction to keep her around another month
This car has really spoiled me. I could handle the foibles of my Dakota (manual locks & windows and a dash squeek that sounded like constant fingernails on a chalkboard) and my Allante (convertible top from hell, suspension rattle (cured), broken A/C). But, my new modern car (07 Subaru Outback) is driving me crazy after driving the LS:
- Grab the handle of the locked car and nothing happens. Have to fish the remote out of my pocket.
- Go to start the car and have to fish the remote and keys out of my pocket again.
- Phone rings while driving and have to fish the phone out of my pocket.
- Only one window goes down (and only down) automatically.
- Leather without perforations or cooling (no matter how weak)
- There are 4 cylinders and 2 gears missing from the powertrain.
- Tire noise, wind noise, and sunroof rattle to keep me company.
- Gotta remember to take the keys out of the ignition and find my cell phone when stopping.
- Close the door as I get out and it stops half latched and doesn't pull itself closed.
- Gotta fish the remote out again to lock the doors.
I need to remember that Subaru classified the Outback as a truck and treat it as such.
Nice,, I feel the same way when I drive my wifes scion xa,, but I can do u one better. About 4 months ago I was backing it out from a parking spot at the mall and after backing it out of the spot I looked behind me to see another car giving me a dirty look and realized I had been backing out and starring down at the center console only to realize there is no nav and no backup camera... I'm glad the other driver was paying attention to my dumb ***.
After leaving a car wash the other day I almost touched a wall only to realize that the parking censor had been turned off
...realized I had been backing out and starring down at the center console only to realize there is no nav and no backup camera... I'm glad the other driver was paying attention to my dumb ***. ...
Thats awesome. Thankfully, I've been backing using my side mirrors for so many years that I still have to force myself to glance at the backup camera to be sure there is nothing on the garage floor as I back in.
Agree getting used to all the stuff the LS430 does automatically makes it a shock to drive a lesser car. I'm pretty sure the parking sensor thing is gonna bite me one day when I drive my wife's 07 Highlander and back it out of the garage towards the back fence waiting for the beeps to begin.
Oh btw - very clean black LS430 with chrome wheels - what a beautiful elegant car!
Gorgeous! You have just shamed me into getting my LS clay barred tomorrow and then I will bring her home and spread a little carnuba on her. I did the inside yesterday. Thanks for the pic!
how long should it take to do a clay bar job?? i bought the kit last year and did it for my first time,,, it took me about 5-6 hours to clay bar and then wax 2 times.
Very rarely I drive the wife's 330..it's a nice car but I can't wait to get back into the ls 430. Mine is a 03 so I miss some of the things you guys have but it is still an amazing piece of machinery. Will soon be on the hunt for an 05 or 06 CPO before lexus stops the the CPO program on them due to age. Heck I even tow a trailer with a motorcycle on it with my baby. Don't see to many ls's with a trailer hitch.
Some people go shopping for themselves, some for their family and friends... Well, you guessed it, i find myself shopping for my car. Car shampoo, clay bars, detail spray, tire dressing, leather conditioner, wax, glass cleaner, etc. I was at Home Depot last week and walked through the pressure washer aisle. I found a car foaming attachment and couldn't wait to try it out. With rain in the forecast and very hot temps, i pressed on. It looks cool and allows me to use my pressure washer for one more thing... but really not sure if it's worth the extra time and effort. Many argue that a foam bath helps remove containments before you wash the car with a mit. I'll go with that
Yep I always spray foam and rinse my car before I wash it. I just use a dial garden hose sprayer filled with car wash soap. It does a decent job creating foam and then rinsing to remove major surface dirt/dust. Then I wash the car using the 2 bucket method - one bucket for soapy water, one bucket of clear to rinse the micro fiber wash cloths. I vcan do the whole deal in about 30-40 minutes working fast to get some exercise as a side benefit.
My revolving door of garage and driveway dwellers provide endless entertainment for my neighbors. I think they make bets with each other on how long I'll keep each vehicle.
