Default Extended Warranty Question

I know this has been discussed to death, but after searching I can't find a thread that talks about this specific question. Which is:

The LS430 we just bought is still under the original factory warranty until October. Given some of the points made about the expense involved if any major systems need work, is it worth it to extend the factory warranty? And can you actually extend the original warranty or attach a CPO-type warranty through Lexus?

By the way, our 430 was a PP purchase, not through a dealer.

Thanks.

I believe you CAN get an extended warranty through Lexus even if it's not purchased through a dealership. It just has to fall within some criteria and they'll warranty it further for $x of course. The cost might be more than if it had been CPO'd through Lexus, also the car is not brought up to "new" standards, it's warrantied as it is now.

Also, because it's after the fact, you'll need to get it inspected of course.

You can get the extended warranty depending on your years and miles, it does not matter where you bought it. You can get the used car warranty on older high mile cars ( bought one on my 03 SC430 ) but only from a Lexus selling dealer. Both my warranties have paid for themselves but I would not have fixed the broken parts if it was out of pocket. My LS needed a new $1200 power sunshade and the repair on my SC GPS was near 8K.

i posted a list of names and numbers a while ago with people that would sell you the lexus platinum warranty at a fraction of the cost...

i bought my 05 from a private seller and bought a lexus 7/100 $0 deductible warranty for less than $2k... do a search, it should come up...

good luck!
