I was wondering how the Lexus warranty works? The original owner of the car was my dad, but it was recently changed over to my mom's name. Does this void or shorten the warranty? Do I have to go through paper work to transfer the warranty? It's a '99 LX470 with 48k miles.

You don't need to do anything for the warranty changeover. Factory warranty coverage is automatically transferred over to subsequent vehicle owners.
