Hot Diggity Damn ...
... did we ever hit it out of the park. To those who may be following at home, you may remember me mentioning I located what seemed to be an exceptional specimen of a 2006 CL ... Flint Mica, Black interior ... hiding up in Montana. Well, the GF and I took the long hard ride (1100 miles in less than 48 hours) and brought home a clear winner.
And no, we didn't pay some ridiculously low price like I keep reading here on the CL. I was ecstatic to get the second owner of this sweetie down to 30K.
Seriously, there are times when I really wonder who in the Hades is selling these great cars at the prices I hear members mention. But hey, I'm not calling anyone out, I'm just happy as a porcine farm animal in excrement that I found this one. And it only took seven months.
This beauty overall condition-wise looks like it's about a year/year and a half old tops. No wear anywhere ... one smallish chip in the right rear door paint. Other than that, showroom perfect.
Honestly.
It had just clicked over to 19K on the odo and looked from stem to stern completely maaavelous. Sporting the big wheels and tires with handling package, semi-aniline leather, alcantara (oh, oh, oh!!!) and some seriously beautiful wood trim, this one screamed: "Take me, or someone else will."
I just don't understand how this beauty ended living up in Missoula, MT. Takeaway here for our membership? Expand thy search, and don't be afraid to search hither and yon to find your 430.
I'm so buzzed and foggy from the last 48 I have to stop here.
Here's my fiddy-something cougar with her new ride. Be nice with the thexual comments. But y'all are right: The GF owes me stuff I can't mention on a family forum.
Best,
Doc

30 seems pretty fair for 7 months of looking and an 1100 mile drive.
Hey I am a person I have been told who paid undervalue for my car. I like it when the DOT writes me for records to varify why my car was so cheap for tax purposes. Some guys are better negotiators than others.
Why would I make any sexual comments about the "cougar" in the picture?
I just could never live with gray/black on black, others can, just my feelings.
Did they make a handling pkg on other than the base and ML that year in 2006?

that thing look gorgeous! Love the Mica on Black. Nice job being patient with this one.
I shopped for about a year before finding my ride, and I wouldn't change a thing. These rides are outstanding.
Congrats!

I really did not mean to bash the color. My interior is black and the dust does show up but it is easy to clean as you can see it. Nothing like the look of a washed polished black or mica car. The heat from the sun is brutal though. AC does help.
Looks terrific! Nice style combo and the aerodynamic lines are irresistable. Sometimes waiting for the right one to come along is worth it. Looks to me like you have a winner there.
Btw, the car looks pretty good, too ;-)

Nice find. I am a fan of paying a premium if necessary to get a really cherry low mile car. I paid 34k drive out for mine last August (base premium option pack in showroom mint cond with 14k miles). I never get in my car without smiling to myself at how pristine and beautiful it is - that feeling is priceless.
I know you'll enjoy this nice car. I bought my 04 with 21,000 miles, it looked new, and has felt like it was new since I bought it. And, this was the first used car I ever bought in my life. The best car I've ever owned.
... who helped this happen. Couldn't have done without y'all. Seriously.
Grav ... what's next? Man, all I can say is now I want one. But I'd have to sell the Road King to afford it and now that it's biking weather, that'd be hard.
I feel sooo fortunate to have snagged this unit ... I mean we could've made ten trips around the country and not found an example this tight and well optioned.
Again, from the bottom of the girlfriend's and mine's(?) heart: thank you all so much for all the love, advice, and camaraderie that lead us to this day. I hope to be able to be as good a neighbor as y'all have been to me.
Take care ... and for those on the fence; don't wait. Buy your 430 now. It is every bit as good as everyone on this great forum says it is.
G'night.
