Default re-program smart key

My Boss and I both have an 04.

My car has the regular key with the remote on the fob (only had 1 key when purchased.)
He has the smart key system.

He ended up trading in his car about 3 months ago. Today, he found his master smart key and gave it to me.

Is there a way to reprogram his smart key to my car?
If so, all I have to do is buy a blank cut and will have 2 remotes.

I don't think the smart key will work with your vehicle since your vehicle does not have the smart key system to start with. The key has to be cut also.

Exactly whathe said.

If you dont have the smart key system (early 04's) then you are unable to take advantage of the system by switching fobs.

I don't want to take advantage of the system. I know that's not possible.
I just want to see if I can use the smart key remote as another "regular" remote.
Like I said, if that is "remotely" possible, then I would buy a blank key, have it cut, and replace the key itself.

I guess I'm trying to get real confirmation if the door lock / trunk electronics on the car are the same. Otherwise, I should put it up for sale.
