Default Finding my first LS! What do you think?

...Well, truthfully, it's for my mom, haha. [Yeah! My first post! ]

But anyways, she's been seriously considering trading in her '04 Avalon XLS with 83k miles for something a little more luxurious. She got it 2 years ago with just over 60k.

...And we found this! It's an '03 LS430 with the NL (Nav/Mark Levinson) package, I believe.

So what do you think? Any recommendations for the negotiations? I was thinking maybe a nav update DVD, something like that (If necessary).
Anything helps!

Thanks!

[Here's my mom with the Avalon about to leave for work. It's a great car, but when you compare them... ]

i would check out kbb.com and edmunds.com for the trade-in/retail value of the car and then you have a bench mark on the prices you're going to negotiate. hope it helps!

Welcome! I think that price is steep for an 03 with 110K miles on it. If her budget is the mid-teens, also check out used ES and RX models. If she has her heart set on a LS, ask her if she is willing to spend the extra amount on maintenence, find a good independent Lexus mechanic (or spend a LOT extra on maintenance), and use premium gas. If you're looking at any LS at or a bit over 100K miles, make sure the Lexus service history shows that it had the 90K service w/ timing belt replacement done. That is about $1500 at the Lexus dealer and probably not something she would want to do shortly after buying a car.

Thanks again for all the help!

She doesn't want the RX or the ES; she wants either a newer Avalon or an LS.

According to KBB, the price is about right (approx. $16,905 in excellent condition), but of course, we'll try to shake 'em down a bit, haha.

If you didn't see the CARFAX on the page [ http://bit.ly/94Fn0n ], it appears that the 90k service was performed. My only real concern is the reported accident/damage in 2007 (<60k mi.) ago, but other than that, the car appears to have been well taken care of, being mostly serviced at Lexus & Toyota dealerships.

OH, one more thing... Do you think the car is blue or black?? The dealer says it's black on the page, but in some of the pics, it appears to be a deep blue, but then again, it could just be the sky's reflection, haha...

I would avoid that car and find another. That car spent the first four years of it's life in New York City - the land of horrible streets and people who park by braille.

The car appears to be black. Drive a number of LS430s so you can compare them. Most drive very well. But, occasionally you'll come across one that just doesn't feel right.
