I've searched and can't seem to locate it, but I recall someone wrote a how-to on tightening up the hinges screws on the center console lid. Does anyone here know where that thread is? I'm about to tighten mine and it would probably save me some figuring-out if I could read that thread in advance... Anyone recall what thread that was in?

Sorry, I don't recall seeing that thread or reading about that particular fix/tip.

In this thread KG19989 posted a PDF with all interior screw locations. I'm not sure if this was exactly what you were looking for but hope this helps!

Thanks. That definitely helps. I still do recall someone posting a how-to for the specific purpose of tightening up the screws in the console hinge mechanism to make the console lid open more easily when you actuate the latch release (if the screws work slightly loose, the console lid sits a little further back and you have to be more deliberate to open the lid). I think it may be easier to take those diagrams and figure it out as I go than to find the post though.

Ha Ha! We did this in my CJ7 back in college. Might have to be a DIY this weekend. We drilled a nice little hole in the bottom and ran a little tube out it with a little silicone seal. by the time we got to our destination the ice drained and the beer was gone. Worked like a champ!!!!

Of course I as the driver never got to indulge....

If you were in Texas back then, it was probably still legal to have an open container while driving - just so you were under the legal limit, which in TX was probably like 3.2%.

(You have to be pretty old to get that last joke.)

I am but a pup... this was in 88-93 (yes, FIVE years!) but I remember when I was young the old man would always grab a cold one and drink it in the car with no worries whatsoever! I think he was even asked by a cop one time if the Schlitz was good because he had never tasted it!

I have this issue too. I haven't looked at it yet. I just got the car a week or so ago.
