Default miss my LS

Out of town on the west coast on business for a few days. I ended up with a 2009 Dodge Charger rent a car from National - probably my last choice but I figured how bad could it be? ... Wow what an unmitigated POS. The ergonomics in the Charger are so bad - the sight-lines for the driver are horrible - like driving an armored car.. The seats, mirrors, ventilation system are poorly designed and function on only the most basic primitive level. It was actually a shock as I haven't had to travel and rent a car since I got the LS so I forgot how bad some cars can be. I have to say the Dodge Charger has to be one of the worse full size cars I driven in the last few years. I miss my LS430.

I usually get a Chrysler 300, I think it's the same chassis. Visibility is horrible and the engine always wants to downshift on even the slightest hill.

But I need a full-size car and the price is right through Fox, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to call this a luxury car, not even power seat on the passenger side.

LMAO! That was a great description, so much so that you put me back in that car again. Love the "unmitigated POS" line that was dead on sir, another rental besides the charger that made miss my LS was the 08 Toyota Prius. Great on gas but for a long road trip not comfy at all.

I dropped my LS off at the body shop on Monday. One would think that after driving it only a couple weeks, it wouldn't be a big deal to drive my 2-year newer Lincoln MKZ again. But, the MKZ seems so crude in comparison. I will be very glad to get the LS back, get the MKZ windshield and back seat leather repaired, and end that lease a bit early.

^^^ True. And try driving one in the rain at night. I had one for about 300 painful miles in Canada a couple years ago. I had a 125 mile drive at night on the QEW and with a light rain the visibility from the two-candle-power headlights (at least that's my guess at their output) was beyond pathetic. It was downright dangerous. I didn't feel comfortable driving more than about 45 MPH in some cases. And it was only a drizzle enough to wet the roads -- not even a heavy rain.

Update - this morning the first Charger bricked itself somehow - I could not turn the key, could not take it out of park. Looks like the ignition system and interlock malfunctioned and totally died. Roadside assistance could not get it fixed. So the rental car brought me out a new replacement rental car - guess what - another Charger. ...yikes.

Yep, Chrysler and GM went kaput for a reason. You don't go from market domination (GM, Ford, and Chrysler of course OWNED the largest, most important auto market on the planet for many years) to total failure unless something is bad, bad wrong. In their cases, it was the consistently poor product that they sold for years and years and years. Once enough of their non-cross-shopping customers died off, they were screwed. It's actually a shame, because we NEED the manufacturing base in the U.S. I do think Ford, and to a significantly lesser extent, GM, are doing better lately in terms of product quality and competitiveness. Chrysler will be dead in a couple years unless the U.S. government injects even more money.

Its a Chrysler product. What did you expect? A good quality reliable car? It's built by a bunch of chain smoking beer drinking production line workers who are solely concerned with collecting a pay check and sheer production numbers. They could care less about quality or making a decent product. The state of Chrysler LLC exemplifies the horrible product they are building and have been building since the beginning of time. Chrysler should gone out of business years ago. They have no business making cars.

Yeah, my brother-in-law is a Ford retiree. My father was a GM retiree. I live in southeast Michigan and many of my neighbors work for or retired from GM or Ford. I'm toast.

LOL It would have been funny at the time if it wasn't so annoying. With the roads wet enough to reflect lights, everytime you got another light -- street light, car light, whatever -- reflecting off of the pavement it kind of 'overpowered' the pitiful headlights and you had the feeling that you couldn't see $h!t.
