Default 10" sub in rear deck

Has anyone installed a bigger sub in the rear deck of their LS430?

I'm planning on buying an LS430 and doing some research on this car.

Does anyone have pics of the rear deck with the panel taken off? Any pics from beneath?

I'm thinking of deadening the rear deck and sealing off the trunk and putting either a 10" or if possible a 12" into the rear deck, but not sure how much room there is.

I don't mind cutting the rear deck to hold a bigger sub.

Thanks

My sub had a 2 inch tear, we used a hot glue gun and it works great. If I had to do it again I would use a non smelling silicon caulk as that would have more give than the glue and I think the sub would work better. Easy repair and much cheaper than replacing the sub.

I have a 2004 UL and had the sub changed by the dealer for free. The service writer just wrote it off. Some good dealer ships have latitude to just give those types favors. So you might get lucky. On the other hand if you do decide to change it out you'll definitely need a free air woofer. Look to spend around $300+ for a lexus sub

You can fit a 10" and I think a 12" sub in the rear deck. It will require a lot of modifications and trimming though. I think LA Wheel was the one who put a 12" sub in his rear deck. He had to reinforce the deck with a thicker wood and cut out some of the trunk lining because it was so deep.

Your best solution for more bass is to place a box, sub and amp in the trunk and remove the existing deck sub to act as a port to the inside of the car. That's how I have mine set up and it sounds great.

Sounds like a good idea to have it set up like that. Did you do this your self or did you have a shop do it?

I had a shop do it. I got a sub, box, amp, wire, line-out converter (needed to run a separate amp off of the factory amp) and installation for under $700.
