question on spacers and longer lugs
so i am aware this is sorta subjective given all the different offsets and what not but i am about to get some spacers and am now trying to figure out what size would be good.
i noticed some spacers come with extra/ longer studs. does a 10mm spacer require putting longer studs on if i go with a 10mm spacer up front or would this type of spacer work fine without putting in the longer studs and does a 10mm spacer require any shaving or cutting of the stock stud or is it cool to just plug and play???
also for the rear spacers i am thinking of putting a 20mm like this kind with the studs built in already:
i am considering putting 10mm front and 20mm rear. presently i'm riding on my stock 17's (winter) but will soon put my 19's back on. they are 275x30x19 rear tire with a real mild offset, (like a 2 inch lip in the rear). my fronts are like 245x35x19 with pretty much no offset.
any input or do's and don'ts would be appreciated. thanks,
or would a 5mm front 15 mm rear be a safer bet żżż

Generally speaking, you can safely run a thin spacer without longer lugs, but it's hard to say for sure because it depends partly on the aftermarket wheels and how many threads will be engaged by the lug nut once you've stacked everything on. I would expect that for the 20-mm spacer, you'd definitely need the longer lugs, and likely for the 10-mm as well. Personally, I'd be comfortable with no less than .5" of thread ACTUALLY ENGAGED, but that's just me. Others may have a different opinion -- some would want more, and some people get away with a lot less than that every day.
I recommend that you do not make the mistake the many people (and shops) make when removing the old lugs: Do NOT drive them out with a hammer. The impact from doing so can cause small depressions on the roller bearings and lead to noise and then premature bearing failure. Instead, press them out with the appropriate tool.
EDIT re: your edit: I don't think you'd hardly notice a 5mm spacer. You might, but nobody else would.
I don't have any direct experience with the spacers with secondary built-in lugs, but a simple spacer that uses only one set of lugs sounds a lot better to me from a safety standpoint....

well i thank you for your much needed opinion and i guess i am ultimately trying to avoid removing the factory studs and also i am trying to avoid having to shave the factory studs at all, even though i don't mind rolling the fenders .
i guess i would like to run a 10mm spacer if it wouldn't require any of the above ^ ^ ^ modifications but a 5mm would be cool as well still while not having to do any of the above mods ^ ^ ^. i figure a 20mm rear would be cool with the second set of spacers pictured above and i don't believe it would require any mods.

Actually, I didn't even look at the LS lugs before I posted that. On some vehicles you can remove the hub and hammer the lugs out, avoiding damage to the bearing even if you don't have a tool to press them out. I can't recall how the LS lugs are configured. And don't know if you're inclined to go to that much trouble...
