I want a cooler.
To all the non-UL'ers on here, have you ever thought about adding a rear cooler in the back armrest? Has anyone attempted an upgrade or modification?
Gonna do some reserch on adding maybe an aftermarket setup and i'll share what i find. Comments anyone? Thanks.

I cannot speak to the aftermarket ones. I would like to hear more. As for the OEM cooler, you would be better off with a small portable six pack cooler with ice. Nothing seems to even get slightly cool in the OEM.
Yeah i heard that from a friend who has an 04 UL. I was really considering fabricating a cooler/fridge of some type to really be effective and be accessible thru the rear seat. Sorry that your cooler dont really work for you. Hope that lexus corrected that on the 460/600.

Yes, I have the flap open, but from you description I wonder if something could be wrong with mine. I will get the dealership to check it out. Thanks.
Mine is ice cold, too. This summer, we picked up a package at the post office while on the way out to go shopping and discovered there was chocolate bars in the package. It was the normal So. AZ summer day (106F outside, more like 120+ in the car), so we stuffed all of it in the cooler box. We went to a couple of stores (~30 min in each). After arriving home, all the stuff we had put in the cooler box was cold. It's cooled by the rear A/C blower (blower pipes cold air directly into the box). The box is about 6"x6"x6".
You could get an aftermarket fridge like those used on Australian Outback expeditions made by ARB that run on 12v. They're like $900, though, but they'll hold many six-packs. You will need a dedicated deep cycle battery and 12v outlet for the fridge, as the stock battery is already too taxed by all the electronic wizardry running when the vehicle is off.
