I have heard that There are a lot of wires running under the carpets of these cars, and should they have gotten wet, could cause trouble. Does this happen to your car on wet rainy days? I got a recall on my new GM truck for just that type of condition a couple weeks ago..
Might take a bit of chance and put some padding on the floor to see if that stops the problem, Maybe the prev owner always rode with his foot in one spot and got a couple wires that would touch once in a while. Sound stupid, i know. but what the heck, you have tried everything else..
