Do you guys think it's worth adding a backup camera to my 02 Ls430 Ultra? If so, what is the average cost to do it?

 

Just the camera unit and its components are 1538$.......Then you need to get the dash modified with the nav screen. Sounds like a pricey upgrade

 

Are you planning on upgrading your h/u? I just did the backup camera with the headunit. On my buddies 4Runner, he has the back up camera linked to the rear view mirror (not this exact one, but something like this).

 

Sorry guys, I already have the Navigation package with color screen on the Ultra, I just wanted to add a camera to it. Do you just plug it in to the Navi unit in the trunk?

And if so, then how the heck do you mount it...I notice when I look up under the outside lip of the trunk, above the liscence plate, on the right hand side by the light— there is a square opening. Is that for the backup camera?

 

The back up cameras are located in the middle just above the license plate. The square opening you are describing on the right sounds like the push button to open the trunk .

 

Hey thanks Trader...didn't know the LS had that trunk button. So I wonder if there is a hole behind the plate mounting for the wiring...
