Default Engine light and vsc light

I have a 05 ls430 ultra with 22,000 miles. It has been sitting for six months and had to be jump started. When i got it started the gps sceen would not come on and the check engine light and check vsc are on and the car will not go over 20 mph. I disconnected the battery and charge it for several hours. The car starts right up now but those two lights are still on and the CAR will not go over 20 mph. Any suggestions

It can be several things, but I would start with the TPS assembly for corrosion/malfunction and go from there. (Of course, having it scanned for codes would be better, but the way you have framed your question, that may not be your choice.) This, of course, assumes that the car was working fine when last parked.

Other causes: bad fuel, corroded/blocked fuel injectors, fouled plugs, fried ECU, broken catalyst matrices, bird's nest in the intake tract etc. etc.

I'm not sure of the LS requires this, but I know on some vehicles (03 Mini Cooper) the owners manual says that---in the vehicle getting jumped---it's recommended to turn a lot of the accessories (radio, fan, headlights, etc) to ON. It's claimed this action will minimize the "spike" in voltage, and reduce the electrical transient/spike damage to the CPU/ECU during the jumping process?

I personally find this odd, because...not only can one NOT put a lot of these devices ON (because the battery is DEAD--switches are electronic/not mechanical!!!), but... obviously, the more devices are ON, the more the LOAD (current) will be, and in turn, the bigger the SPARK would be when jumping!?

Hopefully, in your case, the ECU/CPU isn't damaged.

Does anyone know if the LS has any "particular" or "unusual" recommendations worth noting when jumping the LS??

I'd suggest you refer to this thread, so we have it all in one place. I'm experiencing the same issue with an 04.
