I have a 2001 LS430 UL and everything is great EXCEPT I have been getting this high pitched squeak from the left front tire area whenever I go over bumps, large or small. I took it to the dealer and of course they could not hear it (or didn't take the time to locate it). They indicated the suspension was fine. It rides fine but the squeak drives me crazy. Any thoughts? Can a shock or strut issue cause this and, if so, what is the cost to repair? Thanks.

 

I haven't had it happen to my LS, but our old crown vic had a similar disease: The a-arm bushings would squeak and squeal when going over bumps. It could be the shock, but its more likely that its a bushing issue. You can also hear this when the rubber bushings on the sway bar wear out.

 

Any ballpark repair cost? We talking a few hundred dollars or into the thousands?

 

it's the infamous air suspension in the Ultra! very common problem. they replace the "air-bag" air suspension on my 2004 LS under warranty back in the day... 1k each for part alone! i dont remember if they replace 1 or 2, anyhow i didn't pay squat!

 

mine has same problem, 2002 UL. Same story at dealer too. Likely its the air shock.
