Default Mark Levinson Sound Settings

I have been playing around with the settings to get the best sound and finally found the perfect setting that makes the genres of music I listen to sound really good. The highs are not bright, mids are sweet and bass is not over the top!

I use cd's and my iphone for music, I have to say I'm pleased with the way the music sounds now. Music and movies is my first love and hobby so I can be particular about my sound, the car won't sound nothing like my home system but I can live with the ML system while longer now. Again this is my taste of course YMMV due to how we all preceive sound, feel free to post your settings.

I have a 12" sub in the trunk so my base setting is all the way down, one up on mids and two up on treble.

That looks like a great setting, if you're satisfied with the sound, go for it!

You should try dropping your equalizer boost by 3 clicks across the board, then turning up the volume **** enough to get back to the same overall volume level. When you boost the volume via an equalizer (essentially what you've done there except for adding one extra click on Bass) you increase the likelihood of clipping the amp if you're listening at relatively high volumes, and that (clipping the waveform) is one of the main cause of blown speakers.

The human ear naturally interprets "louder" with "better" sound when comparing, so when using an equalizer (which merely increases or decreases the volume of the bandwidth being adjusted) you have to compensate for the volume change or you'll think "that's better!" almost every time you boost some of the bandwidths.

How do you have the ASP set?

i also have a 12" sub in the trunk and my bass setting is like -3 and this is still really bassy. i also have a remote bass **** mounted in my ash tray for the aftermarket amp and it is usually set at like 30% extra bass boost gain whatever my highs are like +2 and my mids are like -1 i believe. this works best for me...
