Question Door Sill / Floor kickplate illumination?

I was just thinking..why doesn't my doorsill/floor kickplate thingy where it says Lexus, light up when the door is opened?

If I recall correctly, the logo and word Lexus on my x-x-x-girlfriend's SC400 did light up whenever the door was opened, and that was in like 2001???

On the LS, is the Lexus logo & word on the doorsill supposed to light up when the door is opened? If not, has anyone ever attempted the a mod for it?

This was covered on a thread about a year ago, and no doubt before that as well. There are some Lexus models that have the lighted sills and some don't. Someone once posed the question why Lexus didn't do it to their flagship model.

There is a conversion you can do by ordering a sill from a model that has it, then retrofitting it to your LS. Search for the thread and you will no doubt find it.

It use to be that this was available aftermarket (JDM) from Japan, but it appears that it is backorder - i.e. it isn't being made at the moment - maybe demand isn't large enough any longer. Not sure, but that is something I have been interested in purchasing (already done).

Yeah, I never understood that. The RX and the SC430 had it. Why wouldn't their flagship have it

I took an SC430 sills and transplanted them for the fronts. Haven't had the chance to find the rears.

I can't for the life of me take good night shots with a point and shoot

Whats it look like installed during the day?

And where did you find them?

If anyone knows where I can find a salvaged SC430, let me know. I'll kindly take the door sills.

Basically, just imagine that illuminated plastic part under the LEXUS logo (in red) that has to be cut out.

Check ebay (very very slim chance) or the salvage yard.

I did the wiring on each side of the front kick panel where it turns off when the door closes. I'll see if I can find the picture.

i saw a place to purchase these about 2 years ago on lextasy.com but i think i went back and looked the other day and didn't see any myself. they were listed under one specific model though (don't recall which one) but the part said it would work for just about any model.

Are they all red, or is that the color you chose?

That's an impressive website. Thank you...but how does one order from them? Do you need to call or email them? I couldn't find any link to purchase an item, or shopping cart, etc??
