I want to put hids in my fogs on my 04 430 I wanted to go with a higher output then my factory xenon low beams. The fogs I was looking at was 8k and i believe the factory low beams are 6k (correct me if i am wrong). my question is, does it make sense to have your fogs brighter than you low beams or should you match the Low beams with the fogs. Your opinions will be greatly appreciated as i look to do this mod tomorrow!

If you change nothing else, in terms of the functionality of how the fogs work (i.e. comes on only when headlights on), then having them 'brighter' than your headlights doesn't make sense because they're not aimed properly for maximum distance and width. Also, the higher the number doesn't mean the brighter because once you go beyond I think 6000K, the light starts going blue, and so it's not useable light and you've gone to another spectrum.

As for factory, the factory HID are 4300 I believe, not 6000.

 

Correct OEM for 04-06 is 4300k.

 

Replace mine with 5000k and looks great. They were a little brighter than the factory, so I bought 5000k headlights to match. Great look!!!!!!
