New Mark Levinson replacement amp for 01 UL smokes! literally
so i received my replacement ML amp for my LS430 that was displaying signs of a bad amp. i disconnected the battery, let the car sit a few minutes, plugged in the new amp, reconnected the battery, started the acr.
i got the grey screen on the nav saying it was updating the system, while it was doing that, i hear some crackle noises from the speakers, then smelled smoke...
something killed my new amp. WTF?!?! it did blow one of the fuses, i replaced it and nothing. amp is dead. any ideas?
hmm, it's kinda hard to diagnosis the problem without seeing it, obviously it sounds like you have a short, it's very possible that killed your last amp That's just say the amp is the reason of your problemS. Get to the basic now, it will be too costly just to throw parts at it. Check the continuity of the wires to the amp, then it should tell you if you a short, to the ground, power, or cross short??
I'm going to be in Atlanta next week, which is where I ordered my amp from (Electronics Masters) so I'll take it to them first. Those guys seem pretty knowledgeable, so I think I have a better chance with them than the Lexus dealership.
