well heres my question.. how much are they asking? do they have service records? i think thats alot of miles for my tastes. its close to triple my miles on my 01.
like i said the mileage is too high for me.. but if you wanna consider it i would see if they do have the service records. i say this because it will give you an idea how well the car was maintained and too see how what might need to be changed out. i only say this because you might end up spending more on the car than a car with better maintience in the first place with lower miles. so yeah if its worth it to you then get it but for me.. no thanks..
for 9K it seems a bit over priced. I know its an LS but it has 180K. How much longer do you think you have before you have to start spending some solid money for replacement parts and repairs
I agree with my fellow members for this reason, miles!!! 180,000 miles is well over 20,000 miles a year which isn't bad if all services were done and/or oil changes/fliter changes were done. Thats said, you can search a bit longer like members have said to get a better 2001 LS or a 2001-2003 LS with lower miles but may be about $10,000-$13,000 with service records etc.. I suggest being the 2nd owner if possible and not the 3rd owner.
If you follow most 1st owners when you buy from them they tend to be likely to have leased and done services during the ownership. Take your time and be patient and I'm sure you'll find the perfect LS for you and also, don't be close minded to only an Ultra Luxury model. They have had some issues as they've aged with their air suspension. Great advice from the other members.L.G.N.M
Red flags are:
1. if he's for real and selling, then he's gotta make time. NO TIME = NO DEAL, something is up.
2. 180K is a whole lotta miles even for an LS that is coming from a SECOND owner. The LS is bulletproof if treated right, but 180K of neglect can wear down any car. I would cap any used car purchase to 100K or less, no matter how reliable the history of the vehicle.
3. he "THINKS" it might be the ultra package... every car I've owned, I've known EXACTLY what trim, engine size, options etc. that I have. If he's thinking, he's not knowing... so no deal.
Anyway, like others have said, if you're willing to get a 2001 LS, then look around because there are plenty of old folks that bought the LS new and only put on 8K a year going to bingo night and local casinos to play the penny slots. I saw a 2001 with only 15K on the odo when I was shopping... now why would you buy a $60K+ car to just do 15K a year?
3. he "THINKS" it might be the ultra package... every car I've owned, I've known EXACTLY what trim, engine size, options etc. that I have. If he's thinking, he's not knowing... so no deal.
Most people knows very little about the car they are driving, that 00' LS400 I told you about that I was very interested in, the owner didn't even know what HID is when I asked him if the car got factory HID
From what I have seen, most LS430 that advertise as ultra luxury don't have the ultra package, I think people just read that on other people's ad, think it sounds cool, and put that on their own ad. I think since they think the LS430 is an ultra luxury car, it must have the ultra luxury package, they don't know it is actually a big option package.
if the car has all the maintenance history and runs good, then make a 7K offer.
drive it two years, by that time you will have probably 220,000 miles. I'm sure there will be a buyer for it for 5000. You drive 2 years, lose 2 thousand, good deal. get it ?
