I'd agree with this in concept, but in reality, who here is ever a passenger in the back? Also, how many kids will dictate which trim you get.
The UL are for those with no kids (or grown kids) and actually might sit in the back. Other than that, only the air suspension can be enjoyed by the driver. In the seven months I've had my LS now, never sat in the back (could be because there are three car seats too). For me, the CL was perfect from a features, function, and price standpoint for my family.
Also, looking at production numbers, I'm sure the reason that Lexus limited to under 5% total editions is not because they didnt' want to make them, but because most buyers or vehicles do not go "top of the line" and get something all decked out.
With all this said, in about twelve years when some of my kids are off to colleage and all definitely out of the car seats... I will finally trade in my 20 years old LS430 and get a "top of the line" LS at that time.

Way to put a it succinctly KILLERGS4. What about the suede headliner. (rich)
With the exception of the Pre-Collision System (PCS) [16] I enjoy all my UL has to offer every single day. Not one regret and I even have the wife drive me around in the back seat a couple of times a week. If you can find a UL I say go for it.

I personally love the ability to switch between suspension modes. I think air suspension was available on a select number of CL models as well. Very rare though.

I too have my wife drive me around while I enjoy all the back seats features. Not to mention every week my parents rides in the back to go to a restaurant, they loves the reclining/massaging/heated/cooled seats, the side curtain and the power door closer!
Summer is coming too, that extra AC unit in the back does help cooling down the cabin, sometime it even gets too cold because of it.

no AC in my cars has ever been "too cold." I set my side to "cold" usually and then bring it up to about 65 just so it evens out with my wife's side which is never lower than 70.Brrrrrrrrrrrrr....
