Default Really weird occurrence on the highway....

So i was driving my father's LS430 the other night, merging onto the highway. Upon the hard acceleration getting up to speed, the sunroof spontaneously opened on its own. This ever happen to anyone/is there a reason for it?

i just thought that was so weird.

most likely if you/dealer can't duplicate the problem, they can't do anything to fix it... thank goodness it's not your car... haha..

haha well dealer is out of the picture...2001 with 120k, i dont even remember where they purchased it from originally (bought used for a company vehicle). It is my father's car but i'm more well-versed in the lexus side of things. I doubt he accelerates like i do anyways so it shouldn't be a big deal

Sounds like electric issue, your power source was disconnected for a split second. If you disconnect your battery and reconnect it, you will more likely get the same symptom.

if you think thats the cause, check for corrosion on the battery terminals and tight connections with the fuse box.

Not my issue although corrosion on the battery terminals while driving will not cause electronic surge.

Anyway, good luck to the owner.

Probably needs a new battery. When the batteries start to go on these cars, all sorts of weird things happen. CD player randomly shuts off, transmission randomly acts weird, etc.

How fast were you going?
After a certain speed the car will first open sunroof and then if you go faster, pop a trunk in order to generate some downforce and prevent lift-off.

i had issue with no sound coming from cd/radio/navi... once i restarted the car, everything was fine... not issue w/ battery.

If there is excessive corrosion, it can actually cause the wire to break into two. Look over the battery and make sure the wires are nice and tight. Tug on it a little. I had a battery cable break off from corrosion before (and that was the cause of my pontiac stalling). Corrosion will also be more of an issue if any aftermarket wires have been added with cheap connections on them.

Simple thing to look at first...
