It is in the dash near the front of the car - closer to the navigation display than the DVD player in the trunk.

I use to think that antenna on top was for the Nav. but after reading your comment, I went onto Carson's Lexus' site and looked up the DVD/Nav. antenna assembly and it is just behind the display unit. Very interesting. So I don't really remember ever seeing an LS430 without this antenna, so did every LS430 at some point have Lexus Link? I read the manual and on my overhead console, I don't have the Lexus Link buttons at all, so did Lexus just put the antenna for everyone?

I think they must have included the antenna for everyone either for looks or for future use. But, it is true that it serves no purpose. When I bought my 2001 LS430 the antenna "stub" was missing and I thought I would need to replace it immediately and that is when I started looking and discovered that it actually served no purpose at this point.

So will not having the "stub" let water into the area, or it's just a screw in and the thread will be exposed? I can probably cap it with a small "rubber" end of some sort if it's just a thread. I actually never liked those "stub" antennas anyway.

No it won't let any water in. I have been without the stub since I got my 2001 LS430 and there are no issues. There is a thread out here somewhere about how to cap it with a screw and a painted rubber piece - pretty simple if you want to. But, yes a screw would work though it isn't neccessary.

I found the location of the antenna. In the dash behind the navigation screen. When i was in the service menu and on the gps menu i placed a small piece of tin foil on the dash and the gps readings on the screen wouldnt read anymore. The GPS antenna leads go to the DVD navigation unit in the trunk, as i unplugged the connector in the top right hand side of the unit and the signal was gone. So it seems i have a signal but its not being processed. Seems that there is either a software problem or the nav unit is not working with regards to the GPS signal.
IF anyone has any more troubleshotting info on this please let me know thanks
