Default Anyone use Painters tape for trips?

I wanted to see if anyone also has used blue painters tape to tape up the bumper and front part of hood on long drives? I accidentally ran across a LS430 UL that I am actually going to purchase tomorrow . So to keep the bumper in good shape has anyone used the blue painter tape method or is the bumper paint strong enough to handle most rocks? Thank you in advance for any input on this matter.

Clearbra is the way to go, but if you are going on a trip, soon, then use the blue 3m. It would look ugly though, no?

For long trips, EVERYBODY uses blue painter's tape. Just layer it on.

Good grief, I can't imagine driving a car on trips with painters tape on the front end. Y'all are just pulling my leg, aren't you?

We just drive our cars and don't worry about things like this. When our bumpers start looking a little worn, we have our bumpers resprayed by a guy who touches up bumpers for car dealers before the cars are sold. He comes to our house in a truck that has a mobile compressor/paint gun and mixes up the paint on the spot.

He usually paints the bumpers in the driveway or in the garage if it is windy. He always mixes in the appropriate flex additive so that the new paint doesn't crack if the bumper is hit. The guy's an artist and the paint match is always perfect. The same guy touches up my next door neighbor's Maseratis and my other next door neighbor's Porsche.

Well when I get it back to my town I want to get a clearbra put on, but getting it here I was debating if I wanted to put 3m blue tape on to get it here untouched. Just wanted some opinons and if yall used the method also. I am leaning towards using it despite the "ugly" factor just b/c I would like my bumper in good shape from the road trip.

Alot of my friends as well as myself use the blue tape to protect the cars on long trip. Not a big deal. Who really cares about the "look" factor. Slap the tape on to drive it home. Once you get back and you have a chance, just get the clear bra if you want.

It's amazing how many people are concerned about what other people are going to think

I did this (bra+blue tape) when drove it from FL to NC.
I bought a bra for my car especially for this trip.
The bra was taken out when I got to the destination.
I got so many weird look from people on the way.
I'm happy and I don't care what they think
No rock chips, no dead bugs on the paint.
At highway speed, a small granule of sand will definitely embed on or scratch the paint.
Don't ask how I know it.

I drive about twice a year down to Florida from Virginia, and the blue tape is a must. Especially in the summer with all the bugs.

If you don't care about the "look" factor why do you use the blue tape to begin with?
