Default New Member, wow what a car

Last friday my wife totaled our Acura MDX, and to put a smile back on her face I bought her a Black 06 LS430 with all the packages. I have been an Acura guy for years, and finally caved in for a Toyota Rav4 V6 when I needed a little SUV to drive to the train station. That little 268HP runner put such a smile on my face, I thought I would try Lexus for a change.

I found the manual for our Lexus online, but so far, without the books, we have been just discovering new buttons every day. Kind of embarassed I just figured out this morning that the car was unlocking because I had the key in my pocket, I kept yelling at the wife for leaving it open. This is the nicest car I have ever driven. Other than the GPS not responding to voice commands (unless I am missing something) it kills my RL in every way. For those interested I picked it up for $26,700 with the UL, modern, Levinson and who knows what other packages. The only thing I found I don't have is the stereo controls in the rear seat. More impressive is I am getting 23MPG on the highway at 80MPH. Well, just to say hello to all, and apologize ahead of time for the countless stupid questions I am going to have about this car.

BTW, does the GPS respond to voice commands, kind of miss that.

Congratulations on you lexus.I do not think you have the ultra luxury package because you do not have the radio controls on the rear seat. Also the ultra luxury has and adaptive suspension that should have controls for height and stiffnes right underneath the cd changer.Great vehicles and you are going to have fun finding all the amenities on these veh.Welcome to cl

+1, if you don't have the rear audio control, you don't have UL.
But 26K is killer deal for a 06.
Welcome to CL!

Nope, there is nothing to adjust suspension, just the window shade, and a power / snow setting and the A/C seat controls. Just in case someone thought I was kidding, does the GPS take voice commands. My 04 RL had them and I figured it must be in the LS, or not?

Yes it does take voice commands. On mine there's a button on the left hand, back side of the steering wheel that you press and then it waits for you to bark. Every time you speak a command you must first press that button to prompt it to listen.

26.... for an 06. good find. u gonnna love it. I think it kills all other Lux cars. although I have yet to roll in a maybach or a bentley. but those are "backseat" rides. so yeah, I have become a Lex snob. I think my Ls is better then all. cept the newer model Ls'.
ps. just the other day, I was at a light with a newer 745.(why does it seem like all the 7's i see are black) early 30's asian bro w/ his lady.(she was small as hell, so no lb excuses allowed. she was kinda hot tho) Light turns green and I just go normal. then I hear him downshift. (he drew first blood) So I hit it. no power mode or anything. Just foot-pedal-floor. so for maybe a li more then an 1/8 of a mile, I had him by half a car. he wasnt gainin or anything. Just his bumper at my door. I was hittin bout 70+ and I had the right lane of a three lane street. were approaching a car right in front of me. And I would assume that a simple lane change to his left out of sportsmanship would occur. But lo and behold, he don't budge. I have to pull back to get in the lane behind him. maybe He figured he would make his girl think he won or some fantasy land bull. But he knew, as well as I did.(I think his girl knew too, I coulda sworn she gave me the evil eye) who was gon be in Victory Lane. At the next light. i was sooo wishin that I had downloaded "eye of the tiger" the week before. so all I could bump was my cassette tape...."byebyebye" by N-Sync. Uh huh... cuz thats how I roll!
N-Sync+Ls4threezy+all windows open= Gangsta...... YouKnow?...

Default Good Find

Good find on your '06 and welcome to CL No manuals though eh? What else was/is missing from the car? You can definitely get a set of owner's manuals from ebay. Worth it in my opinion. There is a thread on CL on tricks or obscure features of the LS that are buried in the owners manual or not mentioned (like the ability to extend out the steering wheel further than what it currently stops at). Do a search on that thread (I'd do it for you, but I need to leave real quick). If nobody posts it when I get back to the list or you haven't found it, I will find it for you.

I had the same problem with no owners manuals.
You can get the basic owners manual for free from the lexus web site.

Just register here
https://auth.owners.lexus.com/lexuso...sl/OwnersLogin
and there is a request link.. under Owner's Manual page on the right side. Took about a week or so to get to me.

Also when I was at my local dealership, I requested the Navigation manual and they got one for me for free too, but that might be ymmv depending on your dealership.

Congratulations and welcome! I'm constantly amazed that there are so many clueless people out there who don't understand the value of these cars well enough to cause the resale market to be higher than it is. People actually go out and buy things like a new Chevrolet Malibu and pay more than they could get an extremely nice LS430. Nuts. Then then say, yeah, but I have a 4 year warranty. LOL Good for them -- they're probably gonna need it.

the car itself takes voice commands, however, the GPS does not take voice commands in the same sense an acura does. you cannot input an address orally- I think that might have been what the OP meant.

Most useful thing I've discovered... Nav Over-Ride video thanks airtime
