Default 05 LS430 for $31K

Hello LS owners. I would like to be one too, but I need to know what you guys think:

05 LS430 Silver ext./Black int. with 51K and "Modern Technology" package (Nav., rear camera, ML, bluetooth, and two other things I forgot about), CPO and was maintained by leasee at the dealer I'm looking. It also has 18" wheels and smartaccess (no pushstart).

Dealer looking for $31K ($30500) out the door.

Did an Edmunds and it's showing retail of this vehicle CPO for $39K. What do you guys think? Deal, or deal more?

I purchased CPO 2005 LS with modern technology package for 30600 OTD plus tax in May this year. Black with Black int. It has Smart access. 45 k miles, single owner. I guess if you push, you can bring him down another 1000 or so. I bought it from Prestige Lexus in Ramsey, NJ.

Thanks for info. We're not desparate to get right now, so it's not like we can't walk away from it. I was actually thinking if $29800 OTD was doable, and from what you said, it looks like poker face playing time is coming up. The list price was $30K before any tax and stuff... and right off the bat he came to $31200 OTD, so he's already showed his hand. Now for me to negotiate and bring that down another $1400.

In my recent experience with used US vehicle purchases, the dealer always has around 20-40% of profit margin built in to the price that they originally list at. If they originally listed at 31K, I'd offer them $28K. That's 10% off the list, and it's an easily doable price in this market. They'll possibly laugh at you, but just put it out there, tell them you're seriously looking to purchase and give them your cell number. If you go in knowledgeable about what you're buying (mention it's not a custom lux or Ultra for example), know the features, and tell them you're serious, they'll know you're serious. Then cooly walk out, and tell them to call you if they're interested.

They'll almost certainly call you and deal. Or they'll sell to you on the spot. It's all a purely numbers game with vehicle sales, and even at $28K they're making money on this deal. Just keep it relaxed, to the point, and you'll probably do well. Good luck!

Sounds like a pretty good price. Take it from me, the peace of mind and quality of service you receive from a CPO lexus vehicle is 100% worth the premium. Always offer less though, it's pretty high miles.

Double post, sry...

Smart access key is "push button start" you simply twist the little plastic **** instead of pushing it. you never have to take the key out of your pocket

I'm not so worried on the mileage (50K), and as noted before, this is not a "must have" so we're not going in anxious for it. LS430 will be hitting the market at a pretty good pace, so if this doesn't go, we wait it out. We're going in steady at 29500 OTD, final offer. If no deal, then we're done.

Thanks everyone for your input. From your lukewarm response on the pricing, it give me confidence that deal is not too great and we can deal more for it.

Another point of reference. I just bought my 2005 UL LS430 with 52K miles on it for $31,600. I think you can do better for one with less options.
