Default VVT leak and engine lump leak

hi all

i was told few weeks back by the dealer that i have VVT leak and engine luimp leak and ihave been driving the car for weeks now. i took to a small mechasnic and he said it is not urgent.

is it a serious thing that need to be replaced. what is it and what does it do.

i hope some one familar with cars help me

You need to get an exact diagnosis - VVT is an electro mechanical system that varies the valve timing based on engine rpms and load and is a "system" not something that can leak. You may have a vacuum leak that can affect the VVT system however.

By the way, how small was the mechanic? Less than 5 feet; less than 4 feet?
