5,000 mile service
Interesting experience I just had at Santa Monica Lexus here in Cali. Got this car about 16 months ago CPO from a dealer 60 miles away. Love the car and dealer but at $4.25 a gallon I wasn't going back for a simple oil change. Called the local dealer and asked what they charge and he said $130!!! After picking myself up off the floor, I figured that since I had other warranty stuff for them to look at and oil just hit $122.00 a barrel, I'd do it. Made the appt. and was told 6 hours no more. Got a loaner and 6 hours later got a call saying they'd need the car overnight cause they needed to replace the drivers mirror. Next day, wrong mirror came in and they'd need it overnight again. No prob cause I wanted to switch to an IS (which was way cool).
Went to pick up the car the next day and mirror still hadn't come in. Spoke with service mgr. who apologized and promised to get it today.
Long story short, just got the car back and found that they replaced the trunk struts at just under $300, replaced the mirror at $860, found a leak on the oil pan seal and replaced at $1,027, replaced the servo motor on the a/c vents at $828, changed the oil and filter + 27 pt inspection and then hand washed the car with a final charge of nada, nothing, zero.
So, what do we have here, I got to zoom, zoom around for a few days in a very cool IS, got over $3,000 of work done on my car, drank their coffee ate their bagels, checked email at their state of the art service facility and paid nothing.
What do you guys think? Would you go back to this dealership for an oil change at $130 knowing this?? I'm pretty pleased so far. =))

Yup, this is why Lexus is amazing.
I got all the same things as you did and I change my own oil at $15 a pop
You don't have to pay them for service to get all those amazing stuff. 2 weeks ago, I got 2 new 18" chrome wheels and 2 new mirrors under warranty, $700 each, $3000+ worth of parts and labor.
The reality is, Toyota is the most profitable car company in the world and they are very willing to take excellent care of their loyal customer. I know I am loyal to Lexus for life. Wouldn't consider any other brand for any other reasons.
Do you mind sharing how your servo motor on the a/c vents and trunk struts fail?

it's a lexus toyota, u don't need to tune it up. just put in gas and go.
haha, no of course not. But literally the car is amazingly reliable.
props to u with the warranty ! 3000 dollars worth makes it all worthwhile.

BNR34, The trunk struts were getting weak and not holding up as well as they should and there was a clicking sound on the servo motor on the vents which they caught and replaced. The mirror was interesting in that only the left one was making noise (I complained to the service advisor that it was keeping me up at night) and I thought it should just be greased or something and they said no, no...you need a new one. Who am I to complain?
Anyway, Lexus for life as far as I'm concerned too and I'll probably pick up an IS for my wife (and me!) when the lease runs out on the '05 Maxima later this year.

All Lexus are amazing as far as I can tell. And I have experiences with just about everything, from Hyundai to Lamborghini, nothing can compare to the perfectness of a Lexus!
just about all ls430 trunk struts go bad. I have to order a set from ebay.
