Newbie Buyer-- Seat Question
Just picked up a one owner 2005 LS430 w/27K miles (mercury silver/Ash seats) with a Modern Lux package. It's definitely a sweet ride!!
One question still bugging me, though. On almost all the various used LS430's out there when I was looking, the driver seat center base leather panel on the horizontal has a big dimple/wrinkle in it....almost like a 'Y' or diamond shape. Most of the passenger seats had the same look but usually not as pronounced.
So what is that all about? Is this a defect in the leather or the way they were stitched?
The car is still under warranty-- is there a point at which the seat can be replaced if the wrinkle is too severe?

is the norm as the way the leather conforms to our bottoms,, don't recall ever seeing a 430 that did not have that displayed,, even the new 460s have some extra leather there to accomodate,,

As in derry-ere? Ok, I just couldn't resist-
As you say, maybe that is intentional to get more contour support that a taught piece of leather will not provide. But, it's certainly more pronounced than other vehicles.

LaserMark4, yours is pretty pronounce in the indention. I know moisture sometimes leave those stretch marks. If your person is wet, like out in the rain and your bottom is wet, sitting on the leather stretches it out. A leather seat upholsterer might be able to help you "tighten" it back up. They can do wonders. I work almost next door to one that specializes in reupholstering vehicles and they had worked on my Mercedes SL before fixing the dreaded missing leather due to getting in and out of the car and rubbing against the bolster wearing it out. After they finished, it was like brand new. They also tighten the seat indention while they were at it.
