Since we are on the Steering rack subject. I just had my upper shaft universal joint replaced, as well as bushings and other misc. parts around that area. All was done under CPO but it def shows you that the quality is declining. My car at 30k miles shouldnt develop play in the universal joint!!

So from what I gather, this problem only effects the electric tilt/telescope feature and not the actual steering itself? I can see why that make the steering wheel tilt up is an entry/exit convenience but don't understand why there isn't an on/off switch. What was wrong with manual adjusters??

I agree with you that the feature should be controlled by a physical switch like the mirrors or in an options setup menu that the driver can access, rather than a software setting the dealer has to perform.

Mine '05 LS430 won't telescope in/out, while moves up/down. I don't get any noise when try to move in/out. So far checked fuses #1, 19 and 24 they are fine.
Guys please assist if anyone has ideas
Thanks

Vpanin - Woa that's a serious repair for only 30k. You sure you weren't out drifting that thing on Friday nights?
