Horse Power? (engine upgrade)

If you want throttle response, take parts that are heavy and rotate, move, whatever, and buy lighter weight parts. Cam gears, drive shafts, Flywheel, stuff like that. Unless you can do it yourself, add about another 50-70% onto the price of the part for installation.
What else... ah yeah, spark plugs. The best way i know to increase Hp AND Mpgs from plugs are these
http://www.pulstarplug.com
and
http://www.directhits.com
They are both made by the same company and use the same principles. And no, they cannot be used in conjunction with each other(you will have that question after you read about each of them). They actually don't cost much more than normal plugs, so i consider it a good investment
No, those are saying that the con rods can WITHSTAND up to 800-1200 Hp. Besides, you are looking at about $500 for the rods but about $1k+ for the labor (unless your like me, and rip apart the engine). They wont increase Hp, maybe like 10 if they are lightweight.

So what your saying is, youd need 8 of those to run them in our LS's? Do you have those in your car?
No , i don't have them in my car. I am planning on getting them when i need to replace the plugs in like 5k miles. I put them on my friends 2006 GTO and another friends 2005 VW GLI. We didn't dyno test them or anything but they said they could feel a slight difference. I'm not sure about their MPG claims, as they haven't tripped a tank of gas yet to compare. But take everything on a retail website with a grain of salt.
Another thing i forgot to mention is this item i have seen called a "turbonator" http://www.turbonator.com
It simulates the effects of a turbo by swirling the air after the filter. This would benefit the LS a lot more because of the dual air intakes. According to their claims, this would add like 40 hp and around 20-30% mpg increase for $80.
Note: I have not seen these in real life. I have not done sufficient research on these to recommend/explain how they work well. I DO think they add Hp and MPG but as to how much is anyone's guess until some third party results come up. Get them if you want, try them out, if they don't do anything, use that 120 day money back guarantee they advertise

I don't know the answer to getting more power for your LS ('cept maybe listening to the guys linking to the superchargers) but I would recommend that you don't waste your money on the turbonator, the pulsestars or the directhits. You could buy a different air intake, probably won't make any more power but it probably will SOUND louder (and lots of people think louder = faster).
And whats so special about this hyper ground system. Does it really work? has anyone installed it? Also wondering if the Spark plugs they offer make any difference at all? and i'm also wondering what the difference between installing a K&N air filter and installing the Tom's racing air filter would be besides 40 more dollars for the toms and about 5 more weeks of waiting.
Without meaning to be rude, it seems you should spend some more time learning about your car before you start modding it.
Not sure why you would add forged connecting rods to a stock motor

Hyper Ground systems are for the most part a waste of money unless you are running a lot of electrical components.
Yes spark plugs can make a difference. Minimal, but makes a difference.
Air filter - again minimal.
Exhaust - have a custom built X pipe, running dual 2.25" mandrel bent piping, hi-flow cats, pull out the resonators and get some nice mufflers. Will sound loud but mean.
Would I consider doing any of these to an LS430? Absolutely not.
All in all, get some wheels and a nice aero kit. Maybe a suspension upgrade. Go for show, not go....

intake/headers/exhaust/pulleys/plugs/TB (cable type if applicable) is the basic mods that can be done, but with minimal gain. you may "feel" a bit quicker response with yur butt dyno, but thats about it. the usual calculation is $100 for every 1hp. also manufacture claims it gives certain hp, but what really matters is at the wheel hp (whp) what the motor puts out in hp, you will lose it as it transfers to your wheel. if a product says 15hp gain, its prolly <10> by the time it gets to the wheel. look for the "whp" at least if you were to mod.
alot of people will pay out around $500, for a mere gain, and still be left behind. if want to do it right, then go with SC, or turbo, yet with turbo you will have more hardware to work with, then the "bolt on" SC.
$500="it feels like the car is faster"
yet other car is passing you by quickly.
$12000="360whp, and its got go!"
and you will see other car behind you.
btw, suspension and strut/sway bars are a great help in transfering and keeping your vehicle where it needs to be, and need to be added to the factor. it wont make the car "go" faster, but it will make your vehicle responsive.
either way, gluck.
