Now if a group buy can drop it close to $120, I'm in.

Yes, it comes with a lid that is custom matched to your wood color so you solve two problems in one.
Thanks. Hopefully we can get a group buy together.

I got it a few months back and posted some pictures on it on another thread. I love it. Plenty of storage now for pens, mints, coins (although I don't use it), wallet, etc. and closes up for "security." I don't smoke, so the cigarette and ashtray were junk to me. Also, the tray has the power outlet with a spring loaded cover, so it's neat. If more are interested, go for it and get a good group buy out of it. I got mine for I think $180 or so.

This is a VERY easy DIY too. Pull that center console up and the tray is attached by four little screws. Remove, back on, push back in and you're done. 15 min. tops.

I would be interested in this as I am also a non-smoker.

However, I am confused as to how this option includes the lid. I was under the impression that the wood trim in a Lexus LS was from the same tree so there would be a an optimized match of the wood.

So how can you match this up years later? Frankly, I've often joked that the LS wood appears so perfect that it could be plastic!

The same tree? There are people here who have the steering wheel not even the same color. I'm sure it's from the same tree type and it's varnished the same, but they're different for sure. On my dash, I can't really say that any piece really looks like it leads to the next piece.

Anyway, the color and shading will match, but wood grain patter will not blend in, but it won't stick out like a sore thumb either.

Default SAME tree---though only mentioned on 460/600h

I just read the sales brochures from 2005 LS430 & 2009 LS460/600h. It doesn't mention anything about the same tree on the 430 brochure, however...on the 460/600h brochure, on page 9, it says, "GENUINE WOOD. To help match color and pattern, all of the LS's interior paneling-including that in the rear seating area-is cut from the very same tree."

I purchased mine several months back when the other thread on this tray was posted by AlexusAnja. I replaced the wood trim from the door that came on the new box tray piece with my original wood trim from the door to the ashtray in ensure a match.
