Yes, you can do that too, to ensure a more "consistent" match in terms of fade and patter, but as I said, the wood in the LS430 I don't think is from the same tree/pattern because my interior is all cocky with different patterns. My passenger door switch trim is about two shades lighter than the other pieces.

The door is easy to get off it seems, two screws only. I was too lazy to do that, it fit for me so I just popped out and popped back in the pieces.

Excellent News. I got in contact with Darrel from Sewell about a group buy.

He was kind enough to provide a direct link to the item. Now the best part...

Enter Promo Code: Baron

This will get you down from $217 to $175.

Hopefully you guys all take advantage of this so sewell will be more likely to give us additional discounts in the future for giving them bulk business.

Thanks again to Darrel.

no problem guys. hopefully they are happy with the turnout and will be more willing to offer further promotions for us in the future. i spoke to a few places about ordering these and the service from sewell plus the discount makes this one a no brainer for those of us who dont smoke and would rather have storage space...... now if only they had something to hardwire a valentine1 cleanly somewhere, then i can say im done modding the car

I seem to remember a light in my car's ashtray. I wonder if there is anyway it can be retained for use in this replacement compartment?

By light, you mean the lite rim around the lighter right? That is gone. The new compartment has the DC outlet, but no lite rim. It's just a spring loaded cover that snaps back to place once you pull the accessory away. Don't see really why in this case you would need the light, because no worrys about putting a hot lighter into the wrong place.

I thought there was a light in the ashtray too. I could be remembering this wrong seeing as I don't use the ashtray.
Sure a light in the compartment would be useful. I wish they had put a light in the console compartment under the armrest. I have had much cheaper cars with this feature.

I really wanted to conversion kit from ashtray to storage, so I went ahead and ordered the $217 part (see my earlier post). THEN I see someone smarter than me arranged a special price with Darrel. I emailed Sewell Online Parts and they promptly credited my account for $41.

Without a doubt Sewell helps give Lexus a well-deserved good name. Wish there were more dealers like them.

Lightbulb A few more questions

Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
This sounds exactly like what I have been looking for. Thanks to all for the legwork and insight so far!
A couple quick questions for anyone so inclined to provide a tad more insight.
1. the charger still works...correct?
2. Are installation instructions included?
3. How about instructions for putting the original cover on the new piece?
4. Approximately how deep is the new box?
OK...being somewhat ****...just imagine if I was an engineer .
