Be careful guys, you never know when something unexpected like this happens. I was traveling minding my own business when a municipal water truck ran a red light and I hit him head-on. Out of all the people who witnessed the crash only one person stayed around to give a police report. God bless him because if he didn't stop it would have been the other guys word against mine. I'm OK other than some sore ribs and a stiff-ish neck. Basically the cop told me 99% chance it was the other driver's fault. I feel bad for the guy because he was on the clock, and I have the feeling he is going to lose his job. Here are some pics. I'm guessing she is a complete loss. On a strange note. I sware I saw a female passenger with him, but she was not to be found soon after the accident???? Could have been a passer by, who knows?
The doors didn't open, I opened them after the accident. All the airbags exploded except the passenger and they did their job. Thank god my daughter wasn't in the car at the time.
Glad to hear you are okay! What a nice bystander to give up his/her time to defend your word. Thats karma for you.
This is the work of a water truck? Wow the LS took quite a beating but from the looks of the cabin it seems as if it was never hit. Marvelous engineering.
WOW, holy cow..... sorry to hear that and see the pics, but bottom line is you are ok, that's always the most important!!!! seems like the LS is indeed a very strong machine.
sorry agian, it does look like a total loss. sad to see her go, but maybe the new LS is coming

I just noticed the cabin looks great by looking at the picture. No deformation what so ever. Other than the driver and knee airbag being deployed, it looked brand new inside. None of the interior trim was lose, or mis-aligned. The power still worked, however I shut it off to turn off the fuel pump, if the car didn't turn it off already. Everyone who I spoke to there said I was lucky to be in such a safe car. If she is totaled I'm going back to Lexus without a doubt.
A very safe car!!! You should not feel bad though if the gentleman loses his job. When we ALL get our drivers licenses, it is not drive a car, but to operate a deadly machine.....remember your daughter was not with you (thank GOD)....I have 2 girls, would not want to go through life without them due to someones carelessness. Lexus designed a very safe vehicle...go get a used one for now, put your order in for a 460. Maybe this was a sign for you to have one?
that's why ALL newer cars are designed with crumple zones. maybe the muni driver was involved in some sort of inappropriate behavior with the female passenger and wasnt paying much attention to the road. wouldnt be the first time a gov employee was taking care of "personal errands" while on the clock.
Wow, I'm extremely appalled at the outcome of the accident, and very relieved to see you made it out OK with a few bumps and bruises. I can relate to the accident as I was in one back in August. It was my fault then, and I fully owed up to it. The ES was totaled, and insurance granted me a large check so that I can afford an Infiniti G35 as the replacement. Bottom line is, the grass is always greener on the other side
In the meantime, hope everything will go OK with you, your insurance and the other party's insurance. I'd be very surprised if the LS isn't totaled... if worse comes to worse, have the dealer get a quote on the repairs and let them deal with the other party's insurance.

The problem is if the repairs are under what the market value is of the car, they will repair. I do not want a Lexus this damaged driving my daughter around. The tolerances from the factory are much more stringent than the body shop no matter how good it is. If they don't call it a complete waste, I'll have to break out the big guns.
damn dude, thats a nasty accident. good to see that you got out alright.
from the looks of the damage its most likely that the cars going to be totalled. wayy too much suspension damage (front right) and prolly killed the entire drivetrain alignment (tho need a motor shot to confirm). that and the entire car looks kinda crooked, tho that may be the pic itself
Wow. Do you have a drivers side shot? I'm very interested on the sort of damage the drivers side sustained to warrant the side curtain airbags to deploy.
Pictures like this make me happy that I'm able to chauffeur our newborn in our 06 LS430.

No the frame looks pretty strait, it's the camera that has a wide-angle lense.
